Test Shots - Luka

For this test shot, I had asked my brother to sit in one position and look around and show different emotions. After taking the few photos, I opened them all in photoshop and chose a selection on 3 that show 3 different emotions and try to experiment with warping and distorting faces to be different than normal.

To the left is what I had ended up with as a final result.

I think as a first attempt and working with what I had, it was not so bad and I was able to edit it in a 30-60 minute window. I think with the next shoots that I do I will need to have people move side to side a bit and move their heads more. I also think that there wasn't much to work with so I think I may use face paint so that I can have more to experiment with and distort.

I created this by first cutting out the eyes from each image I initially wanted to use and then moving the eyes so that they are stacked on top of each other. I selected the smudge tool and on each eye I smudged the iris and the pupil to connect with the other eyes. I also made some of the white of the eyes connect with each other but not on all of them as I felt they had not needed it. The eyebrows were quite simple to do as I had just used the smudge tool again and went up and down on parts of the eyebrows to make a zig-zag pattern and layered them on top of each other.

Sketches of Face Paint

Below are four sketches I had made for my project for the Love, Creativity, Peaceful and Angry sections.

Character Creation

Here is a video of me creating my character that I will use for my podcast. As I have mentioned throughout, I didn't really want to use my face and I don't really have a large enough space to record a podcast.

To start creating this, I used a base character from a cartoon that I really enjoyed, called boondocks. I used the character's facial features, neck, beanie and fringe so that I can continue making my character and in a way that is similar to me and that had characteristics of myself.

I changed the hoodie to be a long sleeved shirt and also added bangs for my character as that is what is distinguishable about me. I also did some effects where the eyes are moving left to right and also added where the mouth moves alongside with what I'm saying. The movements for the mouth I had recreated similar movements that are seen in the group chat podcast with the penguin.

I did this in about 1.5 hours which was good as it meant I didn't spend so much time creating a character for my secondary outcome that I could have put into my primary outcome.
